Sustainability

Falmouth was one of the first coastal towns to be awarded ‘plastic- free’ status in Cornwall.

The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival recognises that the events industry has a direct impact on the local, regional and global environment and is committed to mitigating these impacts wherever possible. From reducing carbon emissions regarding both power generation and transportation, to reducing our output of single use plastics and managing waste responsibly, the festival will continue to respect Falmouth town and its beautiful surrounds by reducing its environmental impact wherever possible.

With a shanty themed design from Seasalt, Cornwall, collectable cups are available for just £2 from the festival shops on Events Square and Custom House Quay, and all main stage bars, including the Sharps and Seasalt stages, as well as other participating venues throughout town.

These stackable cups are a great way to reduce the overall consumption of single use plastic across the festival as well as make a great keepsake. Perfect for garden parties, BBQ’s, beach trips and festivals. Take your cup home with you to re-use again and again!

The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival sources from local and sustainably committed suppliers to help reduce the environmental impact of the event. We’re proud to say that 95% of supplier and contractors are sourced from within a 40 mile radius!

Local and small traders and exhibitors are prioritised and receive first refusal on trader positions. See a full list of traders present at the festival here.
